Avana ComPel Protective Face Mask 3-packEnlarge « »

Details

The Avana Protective Face Mask in the ComPel® fabric can act as the first level of defense for front line medical workers or those practicing social distancing during the coronavirus crisis. With our innovative contoured design, the Avana Protective Face Mask adapts to the topography of your face---giving you complete protection and full coverage of critically exposed areas such as your nose and mouth and fits perfectly across lateral sides of your cheeks while wrapping under your chin. Constructed with non-wicking fabrics, this mask is helpful in preventing droplets from the wearers’ mouth from entering the air.

The Avana Protective Face Mask is equipped with an internal 3-stage filtering system. The first filtration barrier uses ComPel® a synthetic patented microfilament calendared fabric that repels liquids and is also breathable. It meets AAMI PB70:2003; a standard for liquid barrier performance used in level-two healthcare PPE. The second filtration barrier of medical-grade polypropylene is completely breathable and provides moisture & bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) to 99.5% in accordance with ASTM F2101-07 for medical face masks.  The third barrier is 100% cotton that functions as a soft-liner medium that helps to reduce pressure points and skin irritation during long-term wear.

The Avana Protective Face Mask features adjustable elastic ear loops, a flexible wire nose piece for a tight anti-fog seal of eyewear, and external ID points for personalization. The sophisticated construction makes these face masks breathable, washable, reusable, and protective; its use of lightweight fabrics makes it perfect for long-term wear.

Note: Avana Masks are not certified as N95 masks and are not intended to replace the N95.  Fabric color may vary slightly based on availability. Avana Protective Masks are excluded from sitewide discounts and are non-returnable except for a defect in workmanship.

Questions on Avana Personal Protection Face Mask ComPel® - 3 pack

  • From Kristin at 4/4/2020 10:41 AM
    • What are the size differences between small and regular? For instance what size is the model wearing? Also, does this have a pocket to put a filter material in between the inner and outer layers? It doesn’t appear that it does from looks and description but just wondering. It looks awesomely made!
    • The small masks are for children. The regular size masks are for adults. Also, we no longer carry the masks with the pocket, as they are made with medical grade filtered material.

      Thanks!

    • Yes, you can wash it in hot or cold water with detergent, but be sure to tumble dry.

      Thanks!

    • I see that the mask may be washed in hot water. Does that mean a hot water setting in a HE (High Efficiency) washing machine is OK?
I don't see any drying instructions. Can they be dried on "high" or "sanitize" in the drier?
      Thank you.
    • Yes, you may wash in your HE washer, however, I would hang dry the mask to ensure it's quality.

      thanks!

    • One of the previous reviewers mentioned a material that would be useful to be used as an insert in this mask. However I do not see anything in the actual product description to indicate a location for an inset to be placed. Is there an inner pocket or other location to add an insert?
    • We are actually no longer selling the masks with pockets, as they have been reserved for hospitals and other medical facilities. However the material the masks are made from is medical grade, filtered material. No need for an additional filter insert as the material is filtered.

      Thanks!

    • Hello, actually a small would be for children. For adults, please order the regular size.

      thanks!

    • Do you make masks with the external disk filters that prevent fog on eyeglass lenses?
    • We do not. But we have many people at our company who wear glasses and have tested our Personal Protection Face Masks. If the mask is situated properly on your face and worn tightly with the wire nose piece adjusted, you should have no problems with glasses fogging up.

    • How does your mask compare to an n95 mask? Does it filter airborne particles of .03 microns?
    • Our masks are not as effective as an N95 respirator, and N95s can filter out particles down to 0.3 microns in diameter.
